Description
Menopause is marked by the natural absence of a menstrual cycle for a woman for a period of 12 consecutive months. It’s a time of slow decrease in the amount of hormones produced and a change in the balance between estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone hormones.
The period before menopause is called perimenopause, and with it comes symptoms like hot flashes and mood fluctuations. Perimenopause can last anywhere from 10 months to 4 years, for some even longer.
Womyn have been using natural means to help with hot flashes and related menopausal discomforts for many years. Among them are various herbs that may help fight symptoms.
Organic proprietary herbal blend of Black Cohosh, Chaste berries, Red Clover, Red Rasberry leaf, Dong Quai, Holy Basil, Licorice root, Ginko biloba, and Maca root is a helpful supportive herbal blend during these times.
Tea leaves need room to expand for extracting full-bodied flavor. This is one reason we use organic cotton tea bags instead of tea balls which are not really best for tea brewing. Many standard tea bags and/or tea balls, are low-flow, and require stirring and dunking repeatedly to get the tea to diffuse properly. We believe you get more flavor, more goodness, and more aroma when using roomy, organic, reusable tea bags.
That said, our preferred method for brewing tea is to place loose herbs in vessel with already hot water, steep, and pour finished tea through mesh strainer into cup.
Directions:
Bring water to a boil in stainless steel, glass, or ceramic vessel (not aluminum). Turn off heat. Place one teaspoon loose tea per 8 oz. cup of water into hot water vessel, or into enclosed reusable tea bag, pulling strings tight. Steep for 5 minutes. Strain loose tea, or squeeze & remove tea bag & pour. Add honey or cream if desired.
Note: Women who are pregnant shouldn’t consume black cohosh root tea. Those who are being treated for blood pressure or liver problems also shouldn’t take black cohosh. Always consult with your health care practitioner before using any herbs, especially if pregnant, taking prescription medications, or you have an existing health condition.
