Description
A scar can form where a wound, burn, cut, sore, an acne breakout, or surgery incision did not completely heal and fibrous connective tissue has formed. Essential oils can support infection prevention, encourage healing, and support inflammation. This may be helpful in the prevention of a scar from forming in the first place or help a scar’s appearance to improve over time.
Be patient and consistent, applying the topical oil twice to three times daily. If using on fresh surgical cuts, wait until stitches are removed. Do not apply on open wounds.
Why we chose the ingredients we did:
Essential oils of Frankincense, Lavender and Rose Geranium help support the growth of new skin cells, and reduction of the appearance of scars. Carrot seed has properties which may be useful in treating scars and Neroli oil has been shown to help reduce pain and inflammation. Palmarosa may stimulate cellular regeneration. Helichrysum contains an anti-inflammatory substance called arzanol, which may play an important role in the healing of wounds. It also has antioxidant properties that may help prevent scarring by regenerating new cells and preventing the accumulation of free radicals. Sage may be useful when the wounds are old and have left scarring and is often used for acne scars, supporting the break up the scar tissue. Calendula has been known to speed wound healing as it increases blood flow to the area which may support new tissue growth. According to the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care studies, “using calendula ointment considerably increased the speed of cesarean wound healing so it can be used for quickening the cesarean healing.”
Vitamin E may prevent scarring by helping your skin to retain moisture while boosting collagen production. It also helps to protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals. Almond oil also contains vitamin E, which helps hydrate, soothe, and moisturize dry or damaged skin. Jojoba oil’s natural wound-healing properties combined with its vitamin E content, may support minimization of the appearance of scars. Sesame oil contains antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, and is supportive for healthy skin and acne-prone skin.
For topical use only. Do not ingest.
