Join us in learning to build your home apothecary/first aid kit. Learn to make herbal poultices/fomentations; mustard packs for congestion, or minor burns, powdered herbs for topical use; healing salve, earache oil, toothache oil, and more. Learn what to items to include in your home first aid kit, and why.

While at Ranch Runamuck explore our Herbal, Floral, and Vegetable Gardens, say hello to the horses, Ladyhawke and Trubadour, stalk chickens, admire the peacocks, or just relax poolside with “A Taste of Runamuck” herbal tea. (Bring your swimsuit if you’d like to take a plunge in the pool! Only water based sunscreen please.)

Fee: $60 includes all activities, instruction, informational handouts, organic vegetarian buffet style lunch, and you take home everything you make. This class fills up quickly. Reserve early. Class size limited to 8 people. 209-296-2120.

    At Ranch Runamuck in Pine Grove, home of Herbal Med Rx

    While they are all “extracts” only those using alcohol as the solvent are “tinctures. Tinctures are concentrated herbal extracts that use ethyl alcohol as the solvent, also known as “hydroalcoholic” extractions. Alcohol is used to extract the constituents from the herbs and is also a preservative.

    Come learn and hand craft your own herbal tincture. There are different methods of preparing herbal tinctures. You’ll learn the folk method, as well as the percolation method.

    Enjoy an organic lunch was well!

    Our Herbal Med Rx Apothecary will be open, featuring over 160 organic bulk herbs and over 60 organic herbal products and various accessories.

    There’s nothing quite like reaching in your medicine cabinet and choosing from a variety of topical salves that you made!

    Here you will learn the basics of herbal topical salve making & potent infused herbal oils, with Su Lukasha. We will discuss and choose which herbs to include in your salve and oil, depending on the purpose for them, learn how to make them stay fresh longer, and explore the use of essential oils in salves.

    Confused about what salve, oil, poultice, or liniment you might use for what? You’re not alone. During this workshop we’ll discuss herbal topicals, when you would choose to use them, and how.

    Peruse Herbal Med Rx’s Apothecary, with over 160 organic bulk herbs and 60 different herbal products, while you’re here.

    Fee: $45. Cost of workshop includes organic lunch, handouts, materials, a 2 oz jar of your hand made herbal salve and a 1 oz. bottle of infused oil. Class size limited to 7.
