These essential oils are not cheap synthetic aroma oils and not those blended with other oils. We use quality, organic essential oils, because, although they are more costly, they are often superior to non-organic oils as they are free from any possibility of pesticide residue. (Plus, we get to support safe conditions for the earth, water, animals, and people who work with the herbs/oils!) Some essential oils are highly toxic, and some can have contraindications. We always suggest consulting with a experienced aromatherapist or your healthcare practitioner before using essential oils, especially if pregnant, nursing, or taking prescription medications. Never ingest essential oils unless a certified aromatherapist is consulted first.
Suggested Use: When using in a diffuser, add 5-10 drops of essential oil directly into the diffuser water, or glass nebulizer/atomizer, depending on the size of your device and amount manufacturer suggests.
Note: Some people are allergic to citrus or can’t tolerate citrus or other essential oils. Make sure you know before diffusing around others.
When using on the body*: If you opt to rub on feet, shoulders, chest and/or neck, you must dilute it in a carrier oil first (olive, coconut, sunflower, sesame, grapeseed oil, all work fine). Use no more than 1-4 drops of Essential Oil in 1 Tablespoon of carrier oil. Always start with less and increase by 1 drop if needed. Massage in well. Dilute in a carrier oil as well, when adding to a hot bath. You can add 1 to 3 drops in 1 Tablespoon carrier oil, and pour into a full tub of hot water. Mix it in well before getting into bathtub. (Be very careful of slipping in the tub…and wash tub after soaking with oils to prevent slippage for the next person who bathes.)
*When using pure essential oils topically (on the body): Whenever in doubt, always add less essential oil and increase amount by a drop as needed. Remember that all essential oils must be properly diluted before applying them to the skin. The recommended ratio is 1%, which is especially recommended for children and the elderly. A 1% solution means using 1 drop of oil per teaspoon of carrier oil or up to 4 drops in your bath water.
As a general rule, do not use essential oils during pregnancy without consulting with your healthcare provider or qualified aromatherapist first.
FYI: The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy and the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists agree that the following essential oils are safe for use during pregnancy: bergamot, black pepper, chamomile, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, lemon, neroli, sweet orange, rose, sandalwood, tea tree, and ylang ylang. With all other essential oils, consult your practitioner of qualified aromatherapist prior to use.
