Plan Your Wellness Garden Workshop & Luncheon
March 3rd, Noon to 3:00pm, $45
We are losing medicinal and native plants more rapidly that we’d like to admit, and an ever growing amount of these are being wild harvested by many well-meaning foragers. While we sometimes may need to wild craft our herbs in the forest, meadow, or wetlands, we can do it in a sustainable manner, taking only from areas where the plant is abundant, and not taking more than we need for ourselves.
Whenever possible, I say we strive to empower ourselves by growing as much of our own food and medicine as we are able… it’s more than a hobby or a pastime, or even a job or necessity. I believe it is nothing short of a social, personal, spiritual and political exercise and statement. Send a message out to the cosmos that you promote sustainability and self -reliance.
Growing an “On Purpose” Herb Garden
The idea here is to grow as many herbs as you can that will serve you, your family, and perhaps your immediate community, for specific purposes. You can grow your herbs in sections, grouping herbs that address each section’s purpose, or you can grow them together, as they have multiple purposes anyway. There are many herbs you could grow in your wellness garden, with a vast amount of beneficial properties. And they’re pretty darn easy to grow!
We’ll discuss many of these and how they might be used in your herbal preparations including:
— Nervines, anti-anxiety, and sleep aid herbs
— First Aid herbs
— Antiviral, antibiotic, and anti-inflammatory herbs
— Women’s emmenagogue herbs
— Cold & flu herbs
Bring your wish list, and tell us how much sun, shade, and water, and how much space you have available and let us help you plan your wellness garden.
We will have may starts available for purchase as well.
Workshop limited to 8 people. Fee: $45 includes instruction, handouts, and a lovely organic lunch with other herbal enthusiasts and gardeners.
