Want to Make Your Own Hemorrhoid Pads?
This is a quick and easy method to make organic pads to help relieve the painful swelling and discomfort associated with hemorrhoids.
I always use organic ingredients. If you do not have all organic, please try to use non-GMO, and when choosing essential oils, never use blended oils, but always pure essential oils. These are highly concentrated, so I believe it is especially important to go organic! Keep fingers out of eye area and away from children and pets, when working with the essential oils.
What you’ll need:
A 4 ounce glass jar with a good tight-fitting lid.
A package of round cotton cosmetic pads (organic if you can find them!).
2 ounces of organic Witch Hazel.
4 Tablespoons of fresh organic Aloe Vera gel (or from a bottle if you don’t have fresh leaves.)
8 drops of organic essential oil of Cypress.
5 drops of organic essential oil of Lavender.
5 drops of organic essential oil of Geranium.
4 drops of organic essential oil of St. John’s Wort.
What you’ll do:
Place organic witch hazel in the jar. Add organic aloe vera gel and mix.
Add organic essential oils of Cypress, Lavender, Geranium, and St. John’s Wort.
Put the lid on tight and shake jar well, until all ingredients look well mixed.
Immediately place appropriate amount of cotton pads into jar to adequately soak up the liquid.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour before use.
How you’ll use it:
Wash hands well with soap and water, and apply pad to affected area. Wash hands again.
Leave pad on for 30 minutes or more. Relax and try not do do anything strenuous or too active. Upon removal of pad, wait at least 3 hours before re-applying.
*Placing a thin feminine pad in underwear will help keep your hemorrhoid pad in place.
How you’ll store your pads:
Keep refrigerated. Pads will keep in refrigerator for up to two weeks. Do not keep them longer. Discard if over two weeks.
*If pads begin to dry out in the refrigerator, add a bit of witch hazel and shake well.
What if pads cause irritation?:
If you experience any discomfort, burning, or skin reaction to witch hazel or any of the essential oils, discontinue use and wash area well with warm soap and water.
