Children’s Herbal Workshop
June 28 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Bring your child on a green adventure of discovery! We will explore a variety of medicinal herbs, and learn why, and how, we would use them. For example, if you were having a hard time getting to sleep because you caught a cold and a maybe had a headache, you might call make a nice hot cup of tea with our herbal ally “catnip”, to help fight the cold and ease the headache so you could get some sleep. If you had a tummy ache with a lot of gas or stomach cramps, you might sip on some “peppermint” and “fennel” tea.
Your child will use their sense of taste, and smell, to identify several fresh herbs…blindfolded! That’s right. Using senses other than just sight and touch will better help your child remember them.
We’ll pick fresh herbs to add to our lunch, and talk about planting a fragrant herb garden at home. (We will give each participant a potted herb to take home to grow.)
After a delicious, organic buffet lunch, we will all settle in for a game of “Wildcraft–An Herbal Adventure Game”, a cooperative board game where the kids will learn about medicinal and edible herbs.
