Herbal Med Rx
Organic Herbal Blends
for a happier healthier you!
It continues to be a challenge, although one I am grateful for, to create and manage a business where the importance of the flow and compassion and ritual are just as important as revenue and building systems, etc. My son (who has graciously created this website) is a successful Business graduate and leans on me to create and use procedures that qualify Herbal Med Rx as a business…not a hobby or charity organization. So, in the end, while I strive to be more business-like, my calling is more along the altruistic path. And so, we do our best!
Herbs have their way of feeding my altruistic tendencies. They open my heart, they share their gifts so willingly, they speak so gently (usually), and they teach me. So it is only natural that I pass along their gifts whenever I can.
I was fortunate enough to have begun my herbal studies at Rosemary Gladstar’s California School of Herbal Studies in northern California in the summer of 1981. Her gentle, simple way with herbs and her wise nature and humor were in such step with the way I have come to interpret and be in relationship with herbs. I have found purpose and solace in herbs and plants ever since. She made everything seem easy, light, and simple. Hers was the first productive medicinal herb garden I had seen. Now, as I enjoy my own ever-expanding herb gardens, I give thanks and gratitude, as they bring me, and so many others I meet, joy, health, balance and inspiration.
The making of herbal medicine was perhaps my favorite aspect of learning at the school. At HerbalMedRx™, I carefully handcraft each product with integrity and mindfulness, in small, fresh batches using certified organic ingredients and an occasional wild crafted herb. When making requested herbal blends for friends and clients, I use what I grow organically here on the ranch whenever possible. Since my online products contain “certified” organic ingredients, I source those from sustainable herb suppliers, as my gardens have not been certified. Keeping things organic has always been of utmost importance as I can’t think of a better, more effective way to help protect (and heal) the soil, water, wildlife, air, growers, transporters, packagers, and finally, consumers all by doing that one thing–going organic!
I have spent many wonderful years learning from plants around me, countless herbal educational books, online courses and podcasts, anatomy & physiology in college, and from in person classes from other herbalists, and aromatherapists. However, I am not a doctor. My only credentials are my Certificate of Herbal Studies , 1981 (from Rosemary’s herb school as mentioned above); Certified Master Hypnotist, (Hypnotherapy Training Institute with Randal Churchill, 2005); Certified Massage Therapist, 1982 (Holistic Institute of Massage Therapy, Sacramento, CA); and Certified Master Gardener, 2009 (UC Cooperative Extension).
I do not diagnose conditions and/or illnesses but rather encourage clients to seek one from their health care provider. I believe in self-responsibility and in helping others to learn about their health and to make their own herbal medicine, and seek out holistic modalities whenever possible.
If I can assist you in your process, I will. I may incorporate herbs, hypnosis, visualization, and similar approaches. I will tell you if what you are seeking is beyond my abilities and I will encourage you to seek others who practice acupuncture, naturopathy, chiropractic, or other areas of expertise that are appropriate.
My overall intention is to inspire others to become acquainted with herbs and plant herb gardens themselves in whatever space they have available…as the herbs themselves are the greatest teachers. It is my joy to assist others, when requested, in becoming aware of what their body needs and help folks gain an appreciation of just how incredible, worthy, and intelligent they are. I enjoy the company of young and old community members, who come to learn and help in the gardens. They give me hope. My workshops include herbal medicine making, growing wellness gardens, growing and preserving food, seasonal herbal wellness, and more. We offer Summer Spa Days here on the ranch as well!
Besides the online herbal shopping opportunity, there is our apothecary on Ranch Runamuck in Pine Grove, CA, where we offer over 60 organic herbal products; over 160 organic bulk herbs; tea pots & accessories; and other goodies. The apothecary is open by appointment and after all workshops.
Check out our Events section to view all upcoming workshops.
So welcome to our Herbal Family. We would love to see you at one of our workshops, Spa Days, or other events. Thank you for being a part of our herbal endeavors.
Your Herbal Enthusiast,

What you won’t find in our products:

Our Mission
To encourage self-esteem and self-reliance through meaningful connections while encouraging the practice of compassion, personal & planetary responsibility and wellness, and to offer quality, organic herbal products.
Locally grown organic herbs and food are important for our planet’s sustainability. We grow many herbs and vegetables here on the ranch, and when we need to purchase them we support reputable, sustainable, certified organic suppliers. We never use synthetic pesticides or synthetic, non-organic fertilizers of any kind in our gardens, and any herbs, essential oils, or carrier oils, etc. we order to make our products are certified organic.
We get excited when preparing herbal blends for balms, teas, massage oils, etc. Heck, we get excited when we see anything growing or blooming anywhere! It all keeps us connected to the natural healing cycles of this wonderful blue ball we call home and to the ancient cultures that have come before us and shown us the ways.
Onward, to the herbs!

Affirmation for All Time
I am able, willing, and anxious to express joy and compassion.
I am grateful for the good times and the challenging times, as I learn valuable lessons from both.
I am committed to making my contributions to humanity, all living beings and the earth; and am satisfied with them, no matter how small they may seem.
I realize the importance of attitude, and it’s ability to effect my life and the lives of those around me, so I encourage my own joy and the joy of others.
In the face of seemingly negative outcomes — politically, environmentally, socially, and so on,
I accept my responsibility to overcome cynicism.
I trust that we will weather any hardships and work together
to assist others in need.
I am confident that my positive, creative thoughts, actions and words will lend themselves to accomplishing the above and inspire others to do the same.
